Mike Jaxson

Mike Jaxson - News Director
Having spent more than four years in western New Mexico, when Mike decided to head east, he began a 25 year broadcasting career in Las Cruces, Silver City and now Artesia. After moving around for the past five years, Mike has found a home in the Pecos Valley. Mike is the KSVP News Director. Additionally, from the Artesia Special Hospital District Board of Directors to the Carlsbad Municipal Schools, it can be said that Mike takes the pulse of the Pecos Valley.

Mike is single, he has no kids, (except his sister’s, which he loves to spoil).

Tom

Tom Churchill - Weatherman
Tom Churchill is a native of Dubuque Iowa, where he started in radio as on-air weatherman on WDBQ radio at the age of 13. Tom worked for Channel 10 Television in Dubuque for several years as well as making guest appearances and regular on-air weathercasting duties on PBS, NBC, CBS, and ABC from 1971-1974. Tom's forecasting accuracy has been profiled in People Magazine and National Geographic. The Digital Weatherman system was developed in the late 80's to extend his weather forecasting capabilities to hundreds of radio stations through the use of computer technology. Tom has a BS in Atmospheric Physics and a minor in Astronomy.

Mike Winters

Mike Winters
Mike Winters was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington D.C. At the age of 23, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, NM. While there, he served as a bomb loader on the F117A Stealth Fighters. He was sent on deployments to Kuwait for 3 months in 1998, and Italy for 5 months in 1999.

Mike began his career in radio at KEND, The Mix 106. He was the host of the Mix Morning Show with Mike Winters. Mike also was in charge of programming and just about anything else that needed to get done. When KEND was purchased by Pecos Valley Broadcasting, Mike came onboard to host the KSVP morning show. He can be heard 7AM to 10AM, Monday thru Friday. He promises to keep you informed and marginally entertained.

Mike is happily married to his lovely wife Kim, who is an elementary school teacher in Roswell. He enjoys reading, and is a Civil War buff. Mike is an avid Washington Redskins fan and is now beginning to take up golf. So if you are on the course, beware, he’s not that good and possibly dangerous!
